Can IISER graduates appear for UPSC, GATE, or government exams?

Yes, IISER graduates are fully eligible to appear for UPSC, GATE, CSIR-NET, and other government exams. The BS-MS dual degree is recognized by the Government of India as equivalent to a postgraduate qualification in science.

For UPSC Civil Services, IISER graduates can apply just like any other graduate since the minimum requirement is a bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Several IISER alumni have taken this route, choosing administration over research.

For GATE and CSIR-NET, IISER graduates have an advantage.
