Can PCB students crack IISER IAT without strong Maths?
IISER ADMISSIONS
One of the biggest doubts among biology stream students is whether they can crack the IISER Aptitude Test without a strong Mathematics background. The truth is that IAT tests four subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. PCB students naturally excel in the Biology section and often manage Chemistry well. The challenge comes in Mathematics, which carries significant weight.
So, does this mean PCB students cannot compete? Not at all. Many students clear IAT with focused preparation in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology while attempting only manageable math questions. The exam is not as math-heavy as JEE Advanced, which gives PCB students some breathing space.
The key is to play to strengths. Biology and Chemistry can bring strong scores, and selective attempts in Mathematics can balance things out. PCB aspirants must be realistic: competing with PCM or PCMB students is tough, but determined preparation can bridge much of the gap.
